"You Will Do This, and We’ll Get Through It Together."

I grew up in Dallas as a rabid Dallas Cowboys fan. I remember going to Cowboys games at the old Texas Stadium with my dad, mom, and brother. After the games, on the drive back home, I remember listening to Brad Sham, the “The Voice of the Dallas Cowboys,” on the radio as he gave a recap of the games. It was like watching the games again but, this time, being narrated by an iconic voice, and instead of being in nose-bleed seats, I was on the comfort of the backseat of my parents’ Chevy Nova.

Today, I’d much rather listen to Brad Sham (and color analyst Babe Laufenberg) call Cowboys games on SiriusXM rather than hear the FOX or CBS announcers (no offense, Troy and Tony). Not only is the analysis better, but Brad Sham’s voice brings me back to a childhood when football was more than just a game. It was a part of who you were in Dallas. And I was a Cowboys then. While I now also cheer on the Minnesota Vikings as a result of my nearly 10 years in the Twin Cities, I will always be a Cowboys fan, no matter where I live.

Watch this video of Brad Sham giving some great words of encouragement to my students in these trying times, courtesy of Cameo.

As he says: “You are in law school. You are going to be better lawyers. You’re going to pass the bar and be better lawyers because you will have had to expand your perspective and realize what’s inside of you that will help you overcome something that no one’s really ever had to go through before.

How ‘bout them boys!
