LMU Law Tops State in Tennessee Bar Passage Rates
Knoxville, TN - The Lincoln Memorial University-Duncan School of Law (LMU Law) graduates earned an 88.9% first-time bar passage rate on the February 2020 Tennessee bar exam, ranking it first among Tennessee’s six law schools and placing it more than 20 percentage points higher than the state average.
“This most recent accomplishment really speaks to the quality of the legal education at LMU Law as well as the hardworking and determined students we admit,” said Judge Gary R. Wade, vice president and dean of LMU Law. “I am so proud of our graduates who worked tirelessly and dedicated themselves to not only law school but also the bar exam. They are tremendous additions to the state’s legal community, and I look forward to their contributions.”
Wade also attributed the high pass rate to LMU Law’s passionate and skilled faculty and its rigorous academic curriculum and bar preparation program that allow the law school to provide one-on-one assistance to individuals throughout law school and after graduation to ensure success on the bar exam and in practice.
Set to retire this summer, Wade said, “As my days as dean of LMU Law slowly come to an end, I leave knowing that the law school has achieved so much in such a relatively short period of time.”
The latest bar exam results are the most recent in a series of accomplishments for LMU Law, which has seen 90% of its graduates who have sat for the bar exam pass the exam since its inaugural class graduated in 2013. National Jurist magazine has recognized LMU Law’s bar preparation program as the top-ranked program in the country by comparing actual bar passage rates against students’ predictive passage rates based on incoming LSAT scores and undergraduate GPAs.
