How Do July 2022 Results Compare (so far)?

The July 2022 results season is in full swing. So far, at least 24 jurisdictions have released their results.

While not all these jurisdictions have made their numbers public, the National Conference of Bar Examiners does collect some statistics—overall, first-time, and repeater pass rates, as well as results release date—and publishes them on its own website.

According to the NCBE, 22 jurisdictions have released first-time pass rates for both July 2022 and July 2021.

While the NCBE has previously announced that the national mean scaled MBE score remained steady from the July 2021 to July 2022 bar exams, the first-time bar pass rates haven’t remained steady.

In fact, of the 22 jurisdictions where July 2022 and July 2021 first-time pass rates are available, 13 jurisdictions (59%) saw lower first-time pass rates on the most recent exam. By comparison, only 7 jurisdictions (32%) saw increased first-time pass rates. Two jurisdictions—Mississippi and West Virginia—so no change from a year ago.
