Laptop Testing Requirements and Deadlines in Tennessee
If you're taking the Tennessee bar exam, remember that Registration for Laptop Testing closes tomorrow, June 28 at 3 pm central time. That’s 4 pm eastern time. If you're taking the bar exam in a different jurisdiction, make sure you consult that state board of law examiner’s specific testing policies and deadlines.
Being able to use your laptop on the Tennessee bar exam is a two-step process.
First, you must timely register for testing by laptop. Again, you need to register on or before June 28 at 3 pm central time. According to ExamSoft’s Tennessee Board of Law Examiners Uniform Bar Examination Home Page, “Failure to register means you will handwrite the exam answers.”
Second, you must complete the mock exam on or before July 1 at 4 pm central time (5 pm eastern time) to be permitted to take the examination by laptop. According to ExamSoft’s Tennessee Board of Law Examiners Uniform Bar Examination Home Page, “Failure to complete the mock exam will prevent you from being able to use your computer on exam day.”
Remember to ensure that your answer file properly uploads and that you receive the appropriate confirmation that your answer file has uploaded. Some of you this summer have completed practice essays for LMU feedback through Examplify but realized later that the exam file didn’t properly upload. So make sure your exam file uploaded properly for the mock exam.
(On a separate note, according to the TBLE’s General Instruction Manual: “The DEADLINE for uploading essay answers for the Tennessee bar exam is 9:00 p.m. Central Time, Wednesday, July 27, 2022. Answers uploaded after the deadline will not be graded. Although all locations have internet service, such service might not be sufficient for upload of all answers at the same time. It is strongly recommended that you check to be sure your answers have been uploaded as soon as possible upon reaching your final destination on Tuesday night.” Also, “Deadline for those with double-time testing accommodations is Friday, July 28, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. Central time.”)
